Welcome, Rob Ryan

Rob Ryan is excited to learn the ins and outs of marketing and home automation after spending the previous decade working in print journalism. After growing up in Colorado and graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall of 2009, Rob moved to Florida to start his journalism career, first in St. Petersburg and then in Gainesville. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 2015 and has been there ever since, though he wouldn’t call himself as a Texan just yet.

Rob is looking forward to applying his writing and editing skills to his position as a Content Writer at OneFirefly. A self-described “word nerd,” Rob has worked as a copy editor and page designer at multiple outlets, including The Gainesville Sun and Ocala Star-Banner in Florida and for a variety of publications at GateHouse Media’s Center for News and Design in Austin. He also wrote movie reviews and about pop culture for The Sun and Star-Banner, earning a third-place award for Online Commentary from the Florida Society of News Editors in 2014.

When he’s not writing about home automation, you’re likely to find Rob spending time with his wife and dog, reading fiction and nonfiction books of all sorts, playing video games, listening to podcasts, looking for the best barbecue in Austin or at the local multiplex.
