FOUNDED IN 2007
A Look at How We Built OneFirefly
We come from a desire to help organizations find solutions to otherwise challenging problems. With a Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech under his hood and successful sales career tracks with two leading technology manufacturers, Lutron and Crestron, Ron Callis founded Firefly Design Group in 2007 to provide system design and documentation services to clients worldwide. Ron would quickly recognize the industry’s need for targeted marketing solutions and ultimately pivoted away from engineering and programming, formally closing those business units in 2015. 2016 to the present is the rocketship you know as the agile, solutions-driven marketing leader called One Firefly.

2007
Ron and his wife Danielle gathered the courage and developed the strategy to launch Firefly Design Group in November 2007. At first, the company featured just four employees: Ron in sales, a system designer, a graphic designer and his wife Danielle helped to manage the finances.

2008
With no booth at the expo, the One Firefly team conducts meetings wherever free space is available. Ron walks the floor seeking integrators to promote design and project documentation services.

2009
As the Firefly Design Group customer base grows, the company incorporates marketing along with the existing project documentation work. The new expanded service offering is presented at the industry’s premier trade show, CEDIA, for the first time.

2010

2011
Firefly Design Group unveils new Firefly Creative and Firefly Programming sub-brands at CEDIA for the first time. John joins Ron on the CEDIA showroom floor to promote the company’s website offerings. The sales portfolio product becomes the flagship marketing solution in the industry.

2012

2013
One Firefly secures its most prominent marketing client yet in Audio Command Systems, the largest residential integrator in the United States. Its internal acquisitions are just as vital, adding Taylor as much-needed muscle for the business's financial and operational sector.

2014

2015
One Firefly closes its Hollywood office and decides to go remote while incorporating a focus on team gatherings and training to cultivate a strong company culture. Mercury Collection also picks up its second CEDIA accolade: The Excite Award.

2016

2017
One Firefly completes its first full year with marketing-only revenue. As the company doubles down on its growth, it continues hosting dedicated in-person team trainings and showcases its products at a wide range of industry events.

2018

2019
Account managers meet in Colorado for a focused training session that shifts to a more customer-focused approach centered around monthly marketing review meetings and delivering an exceptional client experience. One Firefly extends its media offerings with the first lifestyle video shoot featured in its new Mercury Pro website product.
