The Challenge: Strong Referrals, Limited Discovery Through Google

Ryan Cohen, owner of Westco Security & Technology Systems, was building momentum quickly. As the business expanded and its capabilities grew, it experienced solid referral activity; however, one gap remained clear.

Westco was not being discovered consistently through Google.

Ryan wanted Westco to appear on the first page for high-intent searches, such as “burglar alarm St. Louis” and “home automation St. Louis.” He recognized that Westco’s older website lacked the SEO structure needed to compete, even if it looked fine on the surface.

The business objective was straightforward and common among integrators and security firms: to build a predictable inbound channel that supports growth beyond referrals.

The Solution: A New SEO-Optimized Website and Comprehensive SEO Services

The initial interest in SEO came directly from Ryan. While on vacation, he emailed One Firefly to explore the possibility of adding a blog to improve Google rankings.

We conducted an analysis of Ryan’s website and online presence and found that Westco was not ranking on page one for core services, had minimal inbound discovery beyond referrals, its website lacked SEO structure for local markets, and its Google Business Profile was underutilized. The process

1) Audit and technical cleanup

At the project's onset (November 2024), One Firefly conducted an audit to identify technical issues, establish traffic baselines, and explore backlink opportunities.

2) Optimize what already had demand

The team identified pages with high impressions but low click-through rates and prioritized improvements through internal linking, title tags, and meta description optimization.

3) Build out high-intent local and service pages

Based on keyword research and Westco priorities, One Firefly developed an editorial plan and created dedicated landing pages for primary service areas, as well as dedicated solution pages for desired project types.

4) Expand and optimize location pages for geographic search

Westco added 11 location-focused Mercury Pro website pages (market profile location pages), which One Firefly then optimized using geographic keyword research, stronger on-page content, and internal linking.

These strategies fixed technical barriers, focused on how real customers search locally, and prioritized service + location pages intentionally for the types of projects Westco desired most.

This was not a one-time effort. It was consistent execution that strengthened Westco’s ability to earn visibility across the St. Louis market.

Westco’s highest-ranking landing pages also reflect a healthier content footprint across solutions, brands, builders, and service areas, which supports long-term lead generation.
